Tape Diagrams - A visual representation of a story problem. These representations do not tell the strategy to use to solve the problem however, they do put the problem into a picture that helps us to understand what the story is telling us.

Number Bond- A mental picture of the relationship between a number and the parts that combine to make it. The concept of number bonds is very basic, but an extremely important foundation for understanding how numbers work.

Array- An arrangement of objects, pictures, or numbers in columns and rows.

Area Model- In 4th and 5th grade, students multiply multi-digit numbers. One of the more effective means of finding these products involves an area model. It connects to the 3rd grade result that the area of a rectangle is the product of width and length.
